MY EXPERIENCE WRITING THE ORIGINAL SHORT STORY “MISFORTUNE”
First, I would like to tell you that it was difficult at the beginning for my group to choose about what to write the original short story because there were many interesting topics or genders so as to write, but we decided to write about something fictional that would be creepy or scary. Then, we let our mind fly and we thought that it would be good to create a story regarding poorness, climatic phenomenon’s, witches, demons, and a single protagonist that lived in a villa (in this case Villa Fortuna) very affected caused by the situations described before.
Second, in a moment we doubted if
write only about a single protagonist or not, but we did it with only one protagonist
given that we wanted to maintain our audience focus on the experiences of
Antoine, who was someone who had a hard life and it was able to sell his own soul
to the devil in order to see dead all the guilty that killed his mother unjustly.
Third, so as to provide a scarier
environment related to the house of the protagonist it was beneficial to choose
a place like a mountain in which the ground wasn’t full flat, and just composed
of 14 houses who had some distances between them.
Fourth, it was very important to add to the story a little sister to Antoine to give him a great company within his house given that it was difficult not only to Antoine but also to his little sister Céline the death of their mother.
Fifth, it was interesting to try
to combine natural aspects with unnatural ones since we tried to carry the
story until a point of desperation in which the protagonist considered an unnatural
solution invocating demons to quench his thirst for revenge since his mother
was accused of being a witch and was killed by religious men.
Sixth, when writing this original short story, we tried to show the silly things done by the protagonist, but at the end he possesses a good heart in which his only intention was to have his mother, sister, and he together again. At the end it was flawless when we made the protagonist Antoine hear the voice of his mother telling him that everything would be alright. That was very important since we wanted to create in the reader the sensation that everything is not lost when a member of our family died, and there is hope that they are taking care of us from heaven. Finally, I can tell you that was a stunning experience working with my group because together we created a nice story.
