LESSONS FROM THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA AND UKRAINE.
What are the lessons that this war leave us? That is the first question that many people around the world make it. I invite you to discover with me dear readers the answers to this complicated question.
Firstable, it would be important to remember the
beginning of this terrible war was in 2014. Nonetheless, the ugliest battle
started on February 24th, 2022 when Vladimir Putin (Russian’s president) order
to his army to invade ukrainian territory. Consequently, Ukraine's President
Volodimir Zelenski order to his army to defend ukrainian territory and started
demanding harsh sanctions to the United States and the European Union against
Russia. The idea was to punish Russia for its invasion, in addition to destroying its economy in order that the invader couldn’t continue financing the cost of
the war.
Since then, the war has lasted almost 7 months in which thousands of civilians have died and of course soldiers from both sides. As a
result, it is possible to start mentioning the lessons that this conflict has
left. The first lesson that can be mentioned here is that doesn't care how big can be the different between the power of one army and the other one always is
possible to believe in the idea that a small country can beat and defeat a
country that is bigger and stronger as Russia is. For example, before the
beginning of this war Russian army was considered as the second strongest
army in the whole world. On the other hand, ukrainian army was the twenty
second army as the site "Global Power Fire" confirms. The difference
between one country and another when it comes to military power was there, but
you can appreciate right now that Russian army was just "the name"
because they were unable to conquer Ukraine possessing an army that easily
could have won the war in a few days.
The second lesson that we can learn about this war is
the courage that the noble people of Ukraine has since they had the option to
surrender; however, they decided to fight against a stronger country in order
to preserve their freedom. In addition, we cannot forget that Volodimir
Zelenski who is the president of Ukraine had the opportunity to escape so as to
save his life because he was the first objective to be killed in this Russian
invasion. His decision was to stay leading his government, people and army
without thinking that he could lose his life otherwise in protecting his
people. And nowadays we can say that his action to remain and not escape as a
coward was memorable and is something that probably will never be forgotten.
The third lesson that can we learn is the importance
of having powerful allies in a situation like this because Ukraine has not been alone
during the war. Since the very beginning Ukraine has had the support of at
least 40 countries around the world, and believes me when I tell you that they
are very powerful countries when it comes to economy and powerful military
weapons. For instance, the United States has been the country that has helped Ukraine the most sending them more than seven billion dollars in
weapons and humanitarian aid in order to give an important help to Ukraine to
fight and resist against the Russian troops. Besides, we can't forget the
European Union that has imposed many economic sanctions against Russia, has sent many weapons, humanitarian aid, and a shelter to those ukrainians who have fled
the war and sought protection in other countries.
The last lesson that I will mention in this opportunity is that you can't go against the majority of the countries as Russia did invading Ukraine and believe that you will win. Vladimir Putin believed that he and his army had the power to take Ukraine by using the force, and what he forgot was the counterweight that western countries were going to carry out and that in the end ended up preventing Putin's desire to overthrow the ukrainian government and take control of this country.
